Affinius.Legal is a grouping of lawyers, as referred to in the Ethical Code for Lawyers (“Codex Deontologie”), having as its members SRL Frank Roose (CBE number 0474.832.123) and SRL Ilse Verhaert (CBE number 0786.776.106). What information does Affinius.Legal collect?

When you contact us for legal services, Affinius.Legal collects personal data that may include one or more of the following categories :

– Name, Surname;

– Job title;

– Address;

– Telephone and/or mobile number;

– Email address;

– VAT number;

– Any documents required pursuant to the applicable anti-money laundering rules (e.g. copy of your ID-card);

– When applying for a vacancy : the information contained in your CV.

Affinius.Legal limits its collection of personal data to these data that are necessary to provide you with the services you have expressed interest in.

For which purposes and how does Affinius.Legal use your personal data ?

Affinius.Legal only collects personal data which are necessary to allow it to perform the legal services it has been requested to provide.

Consequently, Affinius.Legal only processes your personal data (i) to execute the legal services agreement concluded between you and Affinius.Legal, (ii) to protect the legitimate interests pursued by Affinius.Legal (thereby always ensuring that your right to privacy protection is not harmed) or (iii) to comply with the legal obligations to which Affinius.Legal is subject.

With whom does Affinius.Legal share your personal data ?

Affinius.Legal only shares your personal data with third parties whose involvement is necessary for Affinius.Legal to provide its services or to perform its agreement with you (bailiffs, court registries, external accountants, …).

These third parties will only have access to your personal data to the extent required to perform their services.

Affinius.Legal may also disclose your personal data to third parties, in case it is under a legal obligation to do so (e.g. for purposes of complying with its anti-money laundering obligations).

Affinius.Legal does not transfer your personal data outside of the EEA.

How long does Affinius.Legal store your personal data ?

Except when complying with anti-money laundering purposes, Affinius.Legal does not store your personal data after expiry of a five year period as from the last use of your personal data, with the exception of job application documents which will not be stored longer than one year after the vacancy is closed.

What are your rights ?

You have, in accordance with the conditions provided for in the applicable laws and regulations, the right to:

– Request a copy of your personal data;

– Rectify your personal data;

– Request your personal data to be erased;

– Withdraw your consent at all times;

– Object to the processing of your personal data;

– Have your personal data transmitted to any third party identified by you;

Affinius.Legal will consider any requests or complaints and provide you with a reply in a timely manner.

You may also file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority should you not be satisfied with the way in which Affinius.Legal deals with your personal data or with requests or complaints made in this respect.

How does Affinius.Legal protect your personal data ?

Affinius.Legal and its IT partners have taken all appropriate technical and organizational measures (and will continue to adjust those, where necessary, in the future) to prevent unauthorized access to your data or accidental destruction or loss of these data.
